“Displacement of people: groups of persons who have been forced to flee, or leave, their homes or places of habitual residence as a result of armed conflict, internal strife, and habitual violations of human rights, as well as natural or man-made disasters, famine, development and economic changes”. UNHCR 

The keyword here is forced movement, these groups of persons are pushed off from their locality, environment, employment,  and normal activities by force, they didn’t ask to relocate but in order to survive, they need to.

Displacement can occur within state borders which is also known as internally displaced persons (IDPs) because although they are being forced to flee their homes they have not crossed an internationally recognized State border; and out of the borders which is know as forced migration and includes refugees, asylum seekers, trafficked people and smuggled people.
